Hydroponic Gardening, The Target of an Insane “Drug War”

Apparently Americans who employ hydroponics are the newest targets in an insane “drug war” that has gone from bad to ludicrous since it was first “declared” in the early 1980s.

Consider this case in point: A couple of years ago, narcotics officers knocked on the door at the home of a man who had just purchased a seed starter kit from a local gardening shop. The police officers were demanding to know just what it was he was planning to grow.

“Tomatoes,” he told them, and the officers finally left – but only after they were convinced he was not growing marijuana.

Since that day the gardener, who asked the Kansas City Star not to identify him over fears he would once again be hassled by police, began parking a block away from that same garden center, in order to avoid police stakeouts.

The harassment of hydroponic gardeners has only gotten worse since them.

In fact, owners of garden centers are increasingly complaining that police surveillance and stakeouts are hurting their businesses – sometimes even driving smaller garden centers out of business. Few people, it seems, are comfortable shopping under the watchful eyes of the Police State.

A number of customers, the paper said, have reported being followed home by police after making their purchases, regardless of what they were growing.

Hydroponics is a method to grow plants without soil in water containing minerals and other plant nutrients. This is disgusting that police is unnecessarily investigating small farm and garden owners that is affecting their business. The cops are doubting that these people are growing marijuana without permission because they are using hydroponics method of growing plants.

Cops park an empty cruiser in the parking lot of the local head shop – and across the highway from the local hydro shop. People back into a car space to avoid police recording a rear license plate number. Disgusting. I say we spray their cars with tincture – hahahahaha

These fascist pigs who are doing this need to reset their priorities so that they monitor people who visit gun shops and are loading up on assault weapons and black powder normally used to reload shells but which can be used to make bombs, bombs in pressure cookers.  Since Congress is in the pocket of the gun industry, along with their lobby group, the National Rifle Association, if the cops were staking out the gun shops for whackjobs maybe they actually would be enforcing the laws that are already on the books effectively and efficiently so that according to the gun industry and NRA no new laws and restrictions are necessary.  Columbine & Aurora, CO, Newtown, CT, Boston Marathon, just to name only four, four tragedies that ALL cops should have been on the job to prevent instead of looking to catch cannabis connoisseurs making purchases at grow shops, hydroponics shops and garden centers.  Granted, some police know their priorities, and a good number of them have smoked pot–just think of the people you partied with in high school or college or LEAP–so I don’t put all law enforcement in the pig category.  I actually have helluva lot of respect for decent cops in this regard.

Too bad Obama isn’t seizing on this issue and is formulating a plan to have all police revamp their priorities to avoid such tragedies in the future since the Republicans are blocking so much of what needs attention.  Instead, he’s just letting them keep giving it to him up the butt.  Come on, Barry! De-prioritize and de-fund federal cannabis enforcement, at least in states that have taken it upon themselves to regulate cannabis in their own ways.
