World’s Oldest Marijuana Stash Totally Busted

Nearly two pounds of still-green plant material found in a 2,700-year-old grave in the Gobi Desert has just been identified as the world’s oldest marijuana stash, according to a paper in the latest issue of the Journal of Experimental Botany.

A barrage of tests proves the marijuana possessed potent psychoactive properties and casts doubt on the theory that the ancients only grew the plant for hemp in order to make clothing, rope and other objects.

They apparently were getting high too.

Lead author Ethan Russo told Discovery News that the marijuana “is quite similar” to what’s grown today.

“We know from both the chemical analysis and genetics that it could produce THC (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid synthase, the main psychoactive chemical in the plant),” he explained, adding that no one could feel its effects today, due to decomposition over the millennia.

This is so old. I put this in my thesis paper on medical cannabis in high school. Found in a grave with an Anglo Saxon man, in a desert cave where there were no other Anglo Saxons.

Its when the conservative roman emperor came into power that the bag was hidden and forgotten because of new harsher laws against cannabis that were decreted

the trichomes were so mature they turned from
dark amber to purple dots of resin. the pictures are on the net and yes there are some wonderful seed pictures (get a genetic profile perhaps) and the Shaman did NOT think sensi was the way to go but preferred his herb to befully seeded bud. Maybe he knew something……

Very exciting. I’m sure the people of that era found many uses for God’s plant. We still do today but do so illegally in the so called free world.

screw the seeds, just do some cool genetic stuf and maybe cross strain it. we got technology to figure it out. GO TEAM!

I would love to do a bong hit of that. For weed that old, it really must be cured by now.I wonder if they found any seeds .
