Denver Doctor Could Lose License for Recommending Marijuana

A medical marijuana recommendation for a pregnant woman could cause a Denver doctor to lose his license. It would be the first time a Colorado doctor loses his license over an improper pot recommendation.

The Denver Post says Dr. Manuel De Jesus Aquino is accused of improperly recommending marijuana in January to woman who was 28 weeks pregnant.

The complaint states that the woman didn’t say she was pregnant and that Aquino didn’t thoroughly examine her or even take any notes on his three-minute evaluation before giving her a pot recommendation.

Aquino’s medical license is suspended pending a review. He has 30 days to respond to the complaint, which was first reported by Solutions, a Denver health policy news agency affiliated with the University of Colorado-Denver.
