Willie Nelson Band Member Charges Pending

A North Carolina prosecutor says he still plans to prosecute six members of guitarist and singer Willie Nelson’s band on drug and alcohol charges.

Duplin County District Attorney Dewey Hudson said at a press conference Friday that substances seized from the band’s bus in January are being tested at the state crime lab in Raleigh. Nelson was not on the bus at the time.

Hudson has faced criticism for pursuing the case, but says he has to show that famous people are not above the law.

The six members of Nelson’s band were charged with possession of either marijuana or untaxed liquor before a concert that Nelson canceled because his hand hurt too badly to play.

Nelson’s publicist has declined to comment on the case.

This whole case is a farce.

THE BAND MEMBERS WERE DRINKING BOOZE THAT SOMEONE DISTILLED — hence NO TAX PAID — charges MUST BE LAID!!! … OOOoooo, big deal.

    For Christ’s sake.

And then some of them had some pot … Wow!!! Musicians with pot!!!

This is total STUPIDITY!!! If this is news-worthy, then it is LETTING THE WORLD KNOW HOW STUPID THEIR LAW ENFORCEMENT IS!!!

The WORLD USES POT. GET USED TO IT.
    4-5-6!!!!

Willie is from Texas. I assume his band would be also.

I assume the entire band was Canadian, like Tommy Chong and Mark Emery. Can;t they find any Americans to jail for non-crimes?

You just have to be politician past or present and you get preferential treatment in our courts! Unless you mention Harper in your shady conversation then there is a full investigation to clear the PMO. Steven Harper may not be so lucky himself when the UN is forced have him answer for his part in the chain of torture happening in Afghanistan with Harper’s full knowledge. Another indication that the neo right of modern politics, like any other era fully believes there is justification in their actions. Bush, Nero, Harris, Mulroney, Hitler, just to mention a few right of right thinkers that justify death of innocent people as nothing more then collateral damage, for the betterment of democracy!
