Tell Barack Obama To End The U.S. War On Drugs!

President-elect Barack Obama’s website has been asking Americans about the issues most important to them. The first “Open for Questions” segment found that the number one question, voted for by almost one million website visitors, was the following: “Will you consider legalizing marijuana so that the government can regulate it, tax it, put age limits on it, and create millions of new jobs and create a billion dollar industry right here in the U.S.?”

Unfortunately, Obama answered with a stern, short “No.” However, the people have not stopped speaking, and now there is a website asking Americans for ideas. The website is called “Ideas For Change in America” and the top issue is currently the following: “End the war on drugs: We have the highest non-violent incarceration rate in the world. We need to free up our police, jails and courts to deal with people who actually pose a clear and present danger to life and liberty. Stop persecuting non-violent drug users.”

Please go vote for this Idea For Change! If the majority of America demands action from Obama, he may just actually change something. Do whatever it takes to ensure that the horrific persecution of cannabis and its users ends. Free the prisoners, grow hemp and medicine, and change America and the world!

Thank you for doing such a good job of promoting the questions. This is a unique opportunity to speak to Barack Obama and his transition team. There have been a few national (US) stories about drug policy questions ranking high on the questions ranking. Communicating effectively and in large numbers to our elected leaders is an area the the marijuana activism community can make great strides in improving. Take time today to use tool to write to your elected leaders.
