World-Wide Protests September 10-17

The fight for freedom continues. We thank everyone who got involved and made a stand for sovereignty!
Post photos from your event in our Cannabis Culture forum thread Protest Photos from September 10th. You can check out many other pictures too! If you have photos but don’t know where to put them, or how, please email them to me at [email protected] and I will do all of the resizing and posting and hosting work involved.

Make sure to visit and view the whole archive of photos from events around the world at the Marc Emery Gallery at Marihemp.com. There are a ton of resources, images, and photographs available for download and distribution.

Thank you to everyone who took part, and be sure to go to the rallies and fundraising events still taking place this week and beyond! Comedy Benefits, Music Concerts, Marc’s Hockey Memorabilia fundraiser – there are many ways for you to get involved and help contribute to Marc Emery and his friends, who all face cruel and unjust punishment at the hands of the USA DEA.

To find out more about upcoming events, please visit this page on the CC Forums, or check out the Upcoming Events listing on the CC Main page, also posted here.

Official Petitions in PDF format:

Please print and distribute these official petitions. We will require them for our legal defence, to show that there are literally thousands of people around the globe who are vehemently opposed to this extradition procedure, and the continuation of the failed and unjust War on Drugs.

What’s going on?

On September 10th through 17th, people in cities in Canada, the United States, and across the globe are uniting in protest against this alarming infringement on Canadian sovereignty and unprecedented escalation by the Bush administration of the failed War on Drugs.

The Canadian government must abide by the Extradition Act of Canada and refuse the extradition of Marc Emery, Greg Williams, and Michelle Rainey.

Who has signed up?

So far, these cities have protests planned between September 10th and September 17th. There are at least 40 planned as of September 7th!

Email Jodie Giesz-Ramsay to add a city to the list!

What can I do? How can I help?

Get the word out!

Get 4 or 5 friends, and start printing and handing out posters and flyers for the event.

Call your local newspapers, radio stations, and other media and tell them that there is a world-wide protest being planned for September, and that you intend to start one in your town. (They’ll cover anything “global”, even in small cities!)

Leave flyers at schools (non-elementary!), bars, clubs, and alternative or pot-friendly stores.

Get some cardboard or old fabric sheets, and use simple paint or even thick markers to make banners and signs for people to hold during your protest.

Use slogans like:

“DEA Go Away”
“End Prohibition”
“Overgrow the Government”
“Free the Vancouver 3”
“No Moral Sanction of US Drug War”
“Drug Peace, not Drug War”
“Pot is a Plant, Bush is the Dope”
“Marijuana is Medicine”
“Free the Weed”
“Prohibition Kills, Marijuana Doesn’t”
“Victimless Crime”
“We are not Criminals”
“Regulate and Educate”
“Herb Lover”
“Cannabis Causes No Harm”
“Don’t Fear the Reefer”
“Just say KNOW”
“Overgrow the Government”
“God Made Ganja”

Come up with your own!

What else can I distribute or use?

Some of the various posters, flyers, handbills, banners, etc. are hosted at these websites:

Here’s the new Free Marc logo, a variation on the popular one that we used when Marc was imprisoned in Saskatoon.

Here are some easy-to-print and easy-to-use black and white pictures for protest posters. You can cut and paste with scissors and glue, or you can use computer programs to create digital files.

Use them! Share them! Make posters and handouts!

Free Marc, hand cuff logo
Black and white pot leaf
Cannabis Canadian flag
Uncle Sam and RCMP puppet with baton
“Free Marc Emery” logo
Cannabis leaf
Gary Wintle’s USA and RCMP puppet
Pot leaf heart
Cannabis leaf

Here’s an example poster I made with very little time and effort. You can do the same!
