Vancouver ? Comedian, weed diva and Wreck Beach pin-up, Watermelon, will hold her third Baked Goods event on Saturday, July 2nd at the Heritage Hall (3102 Main Street) to raise funds for her legal defense.
Live baking of Watermelon’s famous cookie treats, burlesque girls, fellow comics and dancing round out an evening to support Watermelon’s successful bid to fight for reason in the courts. “I’m a baker, not a criminal,” says Watermelon. “Even the court experts agreed that my cookies are not criminals, and neither am I!” she said.
In an unprecedented judgement, the Supreme Court dismissed charges related to trafficking in her first arrest in September 2001.
Watermelon’s additional charge of trafficking in gingersnap cookies came from a second arrest in July, 2003. Watermelon’s legal fees total nearly $20,000.
For $20 at the door, ticket-goers will enjoy Watermelon’s not-so-criminal cookies, hand-delivered by foxy chicks and Watermelon herself. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and emcee Velvet Steel will host the evening “experience” of live baking, DJs from Vancouver and Seattle, and comedy and dancing throughout.
