Blackout for flowering

We decided to try an experiment after reading about it. We left plants in the dark for 36 hours when we started the flower cycle.
We were delighted with the results. When we turned the lights on, the plants had all their bud sites clearly changed to flower mode. It looks like turning off the lights sped up the flowering process a bit.

Has anyone else tried this experiment? Did starting the flowering cycle with an extended dark period affect the plants in any way? Please share your results with us.
