The Hashish Club: Gunja Smoking and the “Pukhys”

Chris Bennett reads Gunja Smokin and the “Pukhys”, from the Boston Medical and Surgical Journal, 1894. A fascinating account of turn of the century cannabis smoking in India that ends with an account of a group know as “The Pukhys” meaning “Birds of Paradise”, who gathered in a hut walled with cannabis stalks and thatched with ganja, to smoke chillums and recite songs and poetry.
