There are several advantages of growing in trees. Ground-based search and destroy missions are looking for plants on the ground at eye level. A plant in the trees won’t be seen because people don’t usually think to look up to find cannabis plants.
If the plants are at the same level as the tree canopy they won’t be shaded as they would be on the forest floor. Instead they will receive sunlight all day.
The two main problems with growing in trees is getting the plants to the location and finding a convenient way to water them.
