Marijuana Party Organizes Protest In Support of Webster Alexander
ALEXANDER CITY, Al. – March 03, 2003 (ALMJP) – The Alabama Marijuana Party will be conducting a protest outside the Lawrence County Courthouse in Moulton Alabama on March 10 at 10 am in support of Webster Alexander.
Webster Alexander is a 19-year-old boy who has been sentenced to 26 years in state prison for the sale of marijuana to an undercover narcotics agent that infiltrated his high school posing as a fellow student.
The Webster Alexander case has become a focal point of national and international media scrutiny and is directly related to current Alabama political issues such as sentencing reform, the prison crisis and inadequate education funding. Alexander’s sentencing hearing date of March 10 falls on the same day that the Alabama Sentencing Commission is scheduled to present it’s recommendations for sentencing reform to the Alabama State Legislature.
The Alabama Marijuana Party is a Political Action Committee founded by Loretta Nall of Alexander City, in November 2002. The goal of the party is to legalize marijuana in the State of Alabama.

Marijuana Party Hosts November Coalition For Vigil On Capitol Steps
ALEXANDER CITY, Al. – March 03, 2003 (ALMJP) – The Alabama Marijuana Party will be hosting the November Coalition for a candlelight vigil on the steps of the Alabama State Capitol, March 18 at 7 pm to honor prisoners of the drug war.
The November Coalition is a non-profit, grassroots organization that travels the United States educating the public about the destructive increase in prison population due to our current drug laws.
While these types of vigils are common in other states, the sight of drug law reform groups marching on the state capitol will be a novel event for most Alabamians.
The March 18 date of this candlelight vigil falls just 8 days after the Alabama Sentencing Commission presents it’s recommendations for sentencing reform to the Alabama State Legislature.
