A Wisconsin woman is suing West Milwaukee police for shooting her during a marijuana raid in April 2000. A police SWAT team shot 19-year-old Jacqueline Paasch in the leg while she was lying in bed at her home.
Paasch’s lawsuit, reported in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, claims that the SWAT team smashed in the front door of the home before anyone could answer the knock. Paasch sat up in bed and put down one foot when Deputy Scott Mathis kicked in her bedroom door without a flashlight and shot her.
Mathis claimed that he thought Paasch was armed, but she was not. She received a “flesh wound” and was not charged with any offense.
