Germany develops cannabis extracts

The German Health Ministry has asked the German Federation of Druggists to work with the Association for Cannabis as Medicine (ACM) to develop standardized formulations of cannabis extracts. The Federation of Druggists produces standardized formulas for other herbal drugs and tinctures.
The ACM estimates that it may take over a year before publication of some standardized cannabis preparations. Even then there will need to be changes made to the German Narcotics Act to reclassify the cannabis extracts as “unlicensed medicine.” Such changes aren’t guaranteed, but federal agencies responsible for drugs and medicine are helping facilitate the research.

The ACM is also working with patients and physicians on a constitutional court challenge to the prohibition of medical cannabis.
