Pregnancy and Pot

photo by Lincoln Clarkesphoto by Lincoln ClarkesIn the 5 years I have been practising as a midwife, many women have asked my advice on how to have the best possible pregnancy, labour and birth.
Common-sense tells the intelligent lady the answer: drink lots of clean water, eat plenty of fresh, nutritious food, get regular exercise, and keep calm, balanced, and centered. These conditions provide the ideal environment for the growth of a beautiful child, and contribute to an excellent chance for a natural, healthy birth.

Most women know they should avoid drugs in general, as well as additives, chemicals, cleaners, etc. But what about pot? Where does the marijuana herb fit in to pregnancy?

Pot can be safely used during pregnancy, and can help with several of the discomforts/problems associated therewith ? a fact little known by the medical community, and even much of the herbalist community.

Pot for nausea

Many women find out they are pregnant when they start to throw up in the morning, or any time at all. The nausea invades and takes over so completely, that some women give in to it, and are not able to eat or drink anything at all. In extreme cases they are put on intravenous feeding for the duration of their pregnancies.

Other women turn to drugs to quell the waves of nausea that threaten them constantly during the first months, or even the whole nine! With nausea that bad, anything is worth a try. That is how the thalidomide disaster happened ? it was touted as an anti-nausea drug, pregnant women scooped it up and then had deformed babies as a result.

Instead of dangerous pharmaceuticals, surely it is worth trying a natural herb that has never harmed anyone. From the reports of my clients, friends, and contacts on the internet, using marijuana has helped women with severe morning-sickness to overcome the terrible problem. In fact, I have not heard of anyone who has tried it say that it has not worked for them.

Cannabis the balance bringer

The many different active ingredients contained in the cannabis plant work together to put the female reproductive system in sync with the other glands and organs of the body. This is defined in the herbal textbooks as a “female corrective ? an emmenogogue herb”. These types of herbs are special friends to women, because they bring the feminine reproductive system into the correct balance, which definitely helps her pregnancy, and state of mind in general.

Ladies who are out of sync have lots of emotional upsets too, because the hormones are battling instead of complimenting one another. Just a couple of puffs of cannabis, and those emotions are under control, the mother-to-be happy and smiling.

Food & Love

Pregnant women need to eat quite often to feed their babies. Most women these days do not eat enough food, and that is the biggest cause of low birth weight babies. Many infants are malnourished in the womb, as their mothers are busy, fearful of gaining weight, and not knowledgable about nutrition and its importance to their growing babe. Stopping to take a few puffs, relax, and have a snack is one of the best things they can do, as long as the snack is fruits and veggies and whole grains, not twinkies and big macs.

Cannabis can help to take the focus off of the outside world and place it right in the centre of what’s going on in the body now. This means that the sensitivity to every little flutter and kick can be even more intense, the connection to what’s going on with the baby more aware and in tune.

Cannabis is also a great help to the expectant couple, to keep them bonded and lighten some moments that might otherwise be stressful and strain their relationship. I suggest that if they are drifting into an argument, tired, or cranky with aching muscles: just have a few puffs together, rub each other out (body massage) get some yummy aromatherapy going, have some good sex, then a good night’s sleep. Everyone will feel better in the morning, guaranteed.

A smoking labour?

Many clients, friends and neighbors have called or written to ask about using pot in labour ? good idea or bad?

The truth is: usually bad. Labour is like running a marathon ? you need all your physical resources, plus the ones you never knew you had. Most of you know that pot is not something that enhances performance where physical exertion is demanded. This is also the case with labour.

The other important reason not to indulge while in labour is that getting high intensifies the sensations felt by the body. If those sensations are painful and too much cannabis is taken, the contractions can become so intensified that the woman is almost overwhelmed by the pain, shaking and trembling. I’ve seen it happen.

On the other hand, there is a situation during labour that cannabis helps. Here’s how:
The way to help labour go smoothly is to stay relaxed and keep the energy level up with easily utilized foods and drink.

Yet there is a certain type of woman who is anything but relaxed, and as labour progresses, instead of “getting into her body”, she almost leaves it, or wishes she could. She stalls her labour, not allowing it to happen to her on a subconcious level. It’s a self-defense mechanism: labor hurts, so she’s not going to let it happen.

This type of refusal to go-with-the-flow can often be cured instantly and miraculously by just one puff of quality pot. Only a small amount is needed to make the mind-body connection, and no more. In tincture form take three to five drops under the tongue. The lady does not get too high and tired, but gets into her body and its task, enabling her to work with it to affect the birth of her child.

An admission of harmlessness

Marijuana has many uses, and is a special friend to women in their times of need. Used carefully and properly, this good herb is a blessing, and nothing to fear at all.

In the 1983 medical textbook Handbook of Maternal Newborn Nursing the “drugs of abuse during pregnancy” are listed, with the complications they cause. Next to cannabis, it says: “None known”. Small print, but yet another admission of harmlessness.

We knew it already, didn’t we?

Joint, Tea or Tincture?

Marijuana can be smoked, eaten, or taken in tincture form. The quickest acting is the smoked, often with only a couple of puffs necessary to ease pain or quell nausea. Tincture enters the blood stream from the many blood vessels in and around the stomach, so it is quite quick, but less immediate than smoking. Eating a brownie takes the longest to come into full bloom, but should last longer too.

A drawback to eating is the tendency to get too stoned, because the brownies or whatever are so yummy that you can’t eat just one. Next thing you know, colours are melting, husband talking in numbers…photo by Lincoln Clarkes

I started smoking pot about 2 years ago. I have fibromyalgia and constant kidney stones. Doctors wouldnt give me pain killers while passing stone fragments so i turned to pot to help with both my fibro pain, anxiety, and the intense pain of passing the stone fragments. I was amazed at how much this natural wonder drug helped my pain and stress. Recently I discovered that I am pregnant and was told to cut down on my smoking cigarettes, to quit smoking pot, and was promptly taken off of all of my fibro medications. Needless to say Im in pain, can’t sleep due to severe itching, cant eat because of severe nausea, and my stress levels are through the roof. Today my nurse practitioner phoned me to ask if i had cut back on smoking and i said yes since i’ve cut down from 2 packs a day to maybe 1/2 pack, and then she asked about my pot use. I told her that i’ve cut back from 12 joints a day to about 2 joints per week, she then told me that she was going to get childrens aid involved. I am beside myself with anger and frustration!!! According to her it’s ok for me to take up to 6 percocet per day but can’t smoke 1/4 joint instead of taking the man made narcotics!! I would love any advice on what the heck to do about my pain and anxiety… and should i even bother continuing to see this hack …

My son is 6 and just today diagnosed with ADHD and i was/am smoke duirng all pregnancies but ADHD is a genetic disorder, doctor told me this today, Neither dad or msyelf have ADHD but i have 2 siblings and a mom with it…..i heard recently from my sons teacher that there was/is/supposed ot be a study on ADHD kids and if a form of liquid THC would help them…i can see how it might work if only the government would care more to pay to have it researched…

I am now preggo with baby #3…im smoked regualry with all 3. I have a potleaf tattoo on my right hip so its been seen by ALL my doctors and differant people who did my ultrasounds and ONLY 1 time did i have someone ask me about it, an ultrasound guy i never seen b4 mentioned it in a joking matter kinda like he was a smoker too but couldnt really tell me that jsut how he asked about it…i smoked till the day i had my babies and they both are perfectly fine and the doctors NEVER said anything to me about my smoking…SO in my case the doctors didnt try to get invlved and neither did CPS and the same thing for my sister and her 4 kids, she smoke the whole time and no one ever said anythig to her bad about it..

I smoked with my first b/c the morning sickness was so awful I wound up going to get fluids via an IV several times before my Pakistani OB told me to smoke so I could eat. I couldn’t even drink WATER! I only smoked when I couldn’t handle the nausea and it wasn’t to get high, it was so I could eat. Nature told me when to stop. I know it sounds strange, but when my morning sickness went away, I started feeling dizzy and nauseous WHEN I smoked. I quit (easily) and felt great straight through. My son is gorgeous, healthy, and smarter than me for sure! I am now pregnant with my second and I smoke now on the same “eat for your child” program, as I like to call it. Best wishes and Healthy babies all around!! WooHoo

Not sure how to say this but here it is a girl I know is pregnant. She has had the worst pregnancy ever. I have personally watched her puke blood up on more than one occasion and she is now about to have her baby. She went to the doctors and they prescribed her phenagran not a doctor not sure on the spelling but it just didn’t work. Come to find out she smoked a couple of hits of weed and now they are saying they want to take the baby. We live in mississippi I am ignorant of the laws here or even where to find that information out. Can anyone help me her throat has cracked and she needs to a. get marijuana out of her system and b. stop herself from throwing up.

Actually that spell mess-up would be pinned more on the editor, or the reporter not the resource

this is very true. just 3 hits helps with my nausea. i never new or heard of anyone getting harmed from pot. i like to use a vapverizer witch is the best way to use pot. anyone who says other wise your the fucking idots!

I’m sorry to laugh. You’re just an inexperienced user and were *very* stoned. Paranoia is an unfortunate pretty common side-effect.

  303. Arin on

I just wanted to thank Dr Kate.

Though knowing all the facts about marijuana and that it isn’t effecting my child in a negative way, its good to hear factual information reiterated. I am having a natural birth and using a midwife and I appreciate this article and others being more recently brought to public attention. I have no intentions of using any medications during labor or throughout my pregnancy, marijuana is safe, effective, and facilitates a spiritual experience between mother and child.

    All the best,

  304. Jennifer on

I am guessing most of the critics of this practice have never had the pleasure of dealing with a thing calling hyperemesis gravidarum. I tried countless pharmaceuticals some OTC, some prescribed yet continued to vomit incessantly and lost a substantial amount of weight. It wasn’t until I was 18wks pregnant I gave up and finally bought my first dime bag. Lemme tell you that was like bliss. It was so great to finally be able to indulge in something other than water and crackers (which quite ironically always came back up). I thank marijuana for allowing me to continue my pregnancy as I was quite literally on the verge of terminating due to the extreme vomiting even though my baby was very much wanted.

  305. Anonymous on

I inadvertently ate a pot brownie at a Memorial Day party at 24 weeks pregnant and had a very bad reaction to it. I’m not a pot smoker as it never agreed with me and this was a particularly bad experience. Paranoia, panic, deep fear that I’d lost my mind, etc. I called my ob-gyn at 3am, out of my mind, and he reassured me that it would not harm the baby. Obviously, I worry, because my reaction was so bad…stress, fear, psychotic thoughts, (I believed I was schizophrenic and that I was in a time loop that would never end) so I’m still concerned. I’m reassured by the opinions here, but am wondering if your study includes women who mentally, emotionally have an adverse reaction to marijuana? I don’t condemn marijuana use, I’m just looking for information. Thank you!

  306. Anonymous on

My comments will probably not get added because I have not “bought into” the thought of using ANY kind of drug during pregnancy, even pot. I think that one should first ask the unborn child if they want to smoke with mom, because in essence that is what mom is doing, smoking with the fetus. How great does that sound??? Good luck to ANY of you mothers to be smoking pot during your pregnancy.

  307. Anonymous on

No doctor can say that marijuana is proven to harm a fetus. FALSE! one of the biggest arguments on the subject is saying that children are more likely to develop adhd. HAS IT EVER OCCURED TO THE MORONS out there that people who smoke marijuana i.e. the mother and/or father have a form of anxiety or adhd themselves? That is exactly why MANY PEOPLE SMOKE. If your child has it, don’t blame the marijuana, blame GENETICS.

  308. Anonymous on

First of all, has anyone heard of melanie dreher? a non bias scientist who conducted legitimate tests on the use of prenatal marijuana…people are so scared and ill informed of this miracle herb that we have found so many uses for. If smoking marijuana during pregnancy bothers your conscience, then don’t do it. To spread lies and propaganda to mothers who smoke cannabis, makes you look like a walking-talking puppet engineered by the government with scare tactics. Get a grip. Marijuana has helped women with nausea, with restlessness, with fatigue, with loss of appetite…the list goes on. A big way that marijuana helps pregnant mothers, is by keeping their stress level down. Many doctors will tell you that miscarriages are “caused” by chromosomal abnormalities, but the fact is that STRESS can also cause miscarriages. My doctor told me that YESTERDAY. I had a miscarriage 6 months ago that I am positive was caused by my excruciating mental state that lasted for two days. sobbing and shaking over a fight with my mother because she didn’t want to be called ‘grandma’ yet. So long story short I went to the doctor about 12 hours later and the sac had started to collapse in the ultrasound, and there was NO heartbeat. I am the type of person that has very heavy anxiety and I refuse to take any pills to medicate that. I am pregnant and I have smoked marijuana for almost ten years. I had straight A’s through high-school, and I did well afterward.
The first time I was pregnant I quit cold turkey. Now I smoke marijuana and I am having a wonderful healthy pregnancy, and I have no doubt that marijuana has kept me from losing my baby. I have had no stress and I can keep food down. I have researched marijuana for years and I am well aware of the effects it has. There is NO SUCH STUDY that states “marijuana WILL harm your fetus”. It is simply UNTRUE.

I have been smoking for about two years. I am five months pregnant. I stopped smoking almost two months ago and have been feeling more tired and wayy more moody…I dont eat very much because it makes me feel sick. During the begining of my pregnancy there would be days i wouldnt be able to keep any food in my stomach because everything made me puke. I would take a couple hits and finally be able to keep something down. While i was still smoking i was much more calm about the pregnancy because as it is my first i would get very nervous and anxious. Since i stopped im very frustrated all the time and it causes a lot of stress on me and my relationship which in turn makes me feel sick or at times i cant get myself to eat at all. It gives me headaches and worries me to be under so much stress. I only stopped smoking weed because everyone tells me its bad, however, i havent been able to find any actual proof that there are negative affects on the child. I would really like to keep smoking only when i become overwhelmed with stress because at times its too much. I dont want to be a total pothead and smoke 24/7 but to know that its safe to do from time to time would really help me out a lot.

I would have to agree those who have never smoked are so close minded its obvious if you smoke an exessive amount your child is @ higher risk but still there is no proven fact of disformation or the baby being retarded….

Smoking marijuana surley does help with morning sickness and helps with eating! =)

I found out two days ago that I’m 5 to 6 weeks pregnant. I’m a regular smoker and I’ve been smoking this past days because it came to a point I vomited more than 15 times… Cannabis has def done it’s part and helped me relax, kill the nausea and really helped me with terrible back pains. It’s a comfort to read about other experience’s and realizing many are in my same situation.

I just found out that I am pregnant, and have been discussing the use of pot during my pregnancy. My own mother says that she smoked pot during all of her pregnancies, and my brothers and I are all perfectly healthy, intelligent people. I still intend to take marijuana in some form… My question on the issue is would it be better to smoke pot, or to vaporize it, as smoking ANYTHING is not good for your body… and is it worth it to spend $200 on a fancy vaporizer, for a dubious health benefit?

Ok. I am a frequent pot smoker & i love it. But about 2weeks ago i found out that i was pregnant. I know that all doctors wouldnt recommend that i keep smoking but will it hurt the baby? Or would it be different if i ate a weed brownie. Would that be better or worse?

I can bet my next paycheck that every one of these IDIOTS that have something negative to say have never even tried smoking marijuana with an open mind… or smoked it at all. Lets leave it at that. I would suggest that these people do their research on the laws passed in the United States and what FACT they based these laws upon. Realize this was a time where racism was just as common as smoking a cigarette, and these people wrote these laws? Anyways, I graduated from high school at 15 yrs old, and received my bachelor’s degree by the time i was 21 with a daughter and husband. I smoked marijuana all through high school and college, guess what, I didn’t run over any children in the McDonald’s drive through. You can’t compare Cannabis with Crack or Meth which typical people do, especially not in pregnancy. Pregnant women are prescriped Methadone and other pain killers, which are better? In whose terms? Open your eyes ppl.

FINALLY…an unbiased, honest and factual article on this subject! It is so refreshing to read something like this as opposed to mainly only being able to find biased, judgmental, untrue, unfounded and RIDICULOUS articles/opinions on this subject – usually written by idiots who have no idea what they’re on about.

I have been smoking small amounts of weed most nights for about 2 years now. Before I found out I was pregnant four months ago I was also drinking moderate amounts of alcohol a few times per week. I have been in rehab in the past (years ago) because of alcohol and in the past drinking has caused me severe physical and mental health problems. I have been smoking cigarettes since age 12.

I still smoke cigarettes but I’ve cut down significantly. I also still smoke weed most nights in moderate amounts. As for booze though – not a drop since hubby and I started trying to conceive. Same goes for painkillers (apart from paracetamol). I am now 5 months pregnant and my baby is in perfect health…10 fingers, 10 toes, very healthy weight and length and growing perfectly.

I work quite a physical/active job, I stay hydrated and I eat extremely well. I also take all my vitamins and attend all antenatal appointments and check ups. I’m not some demotivated stoner sitting around on her pregnant arse smoking cone after cone day after day…and I know I’m a very responsible person and will make an extremely responsible and loving mother.

I smoked weed, took pills, drank heavily and smoked like a chimney when pregnant with my daughter 8 years ago. She was healthy and her birth weight was 5.8 pounds which is low but not classed as “low birth weight” – not in this country anyway. Her birth weight was also put down to the fact that I wasn’t eating enough because her dad (my ex) was a nightmare to live with. Would I take the same stupid risks this time around?? NO WAY. Back then I was young and stupid. But would I give up using weed while pregnant this time because of babble and propaganda…and no real medical evidence about the “effects” of cannabis? NO. I wouldn’t and I don’t plan to. I’m fine, my baby is fine and everything will be perfect :)

And no…I’m not writing this stoned.

I am on my third pregnancy and DOCTOR prescribed SMALL amounts of pot for my first trimester with 2 out of the 3 pregnancies because I was just soooo ill. I lost 15 lbs in the first 2 months with babies 1 and 3. My first baby, with whom I smoked small amounts to quell nausea, turned out fine. He is advanced for his age and doing great. Everyone is different, so for all of you negative people out there, do not judge until you have walked in someone elses footsteps.

I am currently 3 months pregnant and for one can say that smoking pot has helped me out a lot. With morning sickness, being able to eat these past few months, and my mood!!! Only one draw back, coughing can make you gag which in turn makes me throw up.

don’t you mean medical ‘advice’? let’s not get all technical. someone needs to take a look in the mirror and a puff or two.

on another note… it IS great to hear advice from someone that has experience with pregnancy AND pot… rather than hearing how the two go hand-in-hand from a pot-free, total law-abiding medical expert. I think it’s all great advice.

HOWEVER, even though marijuana does no real HARM to the fetus, brain devolopment continues into adolescence and there have been links between ADD, nervous system differences later in life for baby and pot-smoking mothers. this is something i personally have struggled with and so has the father of my unborn. for this reason and that i cannot grow my own weed and ensure that it is purely marijuana and has no added chemicals, i have chosen to limit my smoking to the times when i just really need to relax and get in-touch with myself. normally i am a regular smoker and i love marijuana, but i would encourage ALL expecting women to become informed the best they can from all resources of knowledge available to them, take all factors into consideration, and make the decision that fits their lifestyle, desires, and situations the best. it doesn’t have to be black & white! smoke or no smoke! do what works! keep in mind that fetus’ are especially vulnerable during weeks 3 to 8 and to check up on laws in your states. i know where i live, my baby WOULD be taken away from me if THC showed up in a test directly before or after labour. also, if you don’t smoke weed already, you would probably be best off to wait and enjoy the herb once your baby no longer depends on your body or breastmilk.

HAPPY BABIES ARE HEALTHY BABIES!! best wishes for all mommies to-be

I have seen several kids born to people that used pot during pregnacny and their kids are fine. I’m also doing my research paper on the two sides to the story. There have been countless studies that show no negative effects. In some test children of pot smokers did better on reflex test, cognitive test, psycomotor skills, and showed to be a joy to care givers. The choice is up to the pregnant woman and what benefits her and the baby. Marijuana does help with morning sickness, to increase your appeitite, pregnancy migraines and depression (both pre and post natal)

There are not many professionals who will speak on this topic so I thank you so much for your unbiased 2 cents, Dr. Kate. I have smoked very lightly, off and on, after about month 6 of my pregnancy and my pregnancy has progressed quite nicely with baby healthy, active and developing normally. I would never put my baby in danger. Pot (homegrown) has never harmed me so I feel it is safe in small amounts and shouldn’t harm my baby in utero. It’s relaxed me during my pregnancy and I have actually achieved enhanced cardiovascular benefits from it (I used to take a puff or two before running (upwards of 10 miles 3x per week) prior to becoming pregnant and it enhanced my endurance). It has made my daily power-walks more pleasurable and helped me navigate through my Braxton Hicks contractions (& relaxed me) without a hitch. It’s given me more of a handle on my pregnancy sensations and has empowered me by helping me mentally navigate the sensations better. I have no doubt that it would do the same for me during labor.

My opinion, for what it’s worth: Pot (homegrown) is okay to smoke while pregnant (in limited amounts) especially if you are drinking 2 quarts of H2O a day, staying active (I’m talking 90minute power-walks, as approved by doctor of course). I intend to use THC during labor (if I feel I need it; I may not) and I intuitively know it will be a good tool to help ease the mental and physical intensity.

I will be back to give an update on my experience. Thank You.

Why is someone claiming to be a Doctor when they are only practicing as a midwife?? Where did you get your Cereal packet qualifications?? For every pro ‘study’ there is a medical research study which contradicts. Pot certainly has not had the definite results that many other illegal drugs have for harming self or bubs – but there IS evidence – however ambiguous – that Marijuana can cause behavioural, cognitive, nervous and physical defects in the unborn foetus. I don’t know about you, but my four children are too precious to me to take any UNECCESSARY risk – no matter how small – for selfish pleasure. I am not against Marijuana use, except for the fact that it is against the law in many countries – if it were legal, I’d probably prefer it to alcohol, but for heavens sake – if you want to practice ANY self indulgent, pleasure seeking, hedonistic pass times, do it on your own time. When you are pregnant, it is like being under contract for 9 full months of your life. You were the one who chose to get pregnant, your baby has no say – for goodness sake, be responsible and don’t take biased advice, ask a real Doctor with a real certificate on the wall – PLEASE!!

lol… “practising” is actually the correct way to spell the word in general British grammar, and since this piece was written out of Canada it’s probably safe to say they use British dialect… just a little FYI

chances are they will notify social services if the baby is born with pot in its system (they are obligated because pot is illegal) which generally entails follow up (home visits, interview, etc) but they generally don’t get involved with mothers who smoke pot. cocaine, speed and other more harmful drugs, absolutely they will take your baby, but have never heard of them taking your baby only because of pot. That being said, you should know that if you continue to have children and any of them are positive for any drugs, they will look more closely if any of your previous babies have popped positive for just marijuana. all in all they are not as concerned with marijuana but still have a legal right to get involved. might be wise to err on the side of caution and make sure you’re clean for delivery so the baby is not positive at birth. Also, takes longer for pot to get out of the baby’s system than yours. (not really sure how that works, but new babies have been known to test positive whereas their mothers are clean)

if you all hate pot so much and think it is just as bad as other drugs then why is it there are no deaths from toking… go ahead try and find anything on someone overdosing from smoking pot! Here is something for you to read

“A couple of things: first, the canard about “much higher THC content in modern pot” is itself a myth. The THC content has not changed substantially. This myth can be traced to a change in the methodology of the government lab that tracks marijuana potency. Prior to some time in the 1980’s, they were prohibited from buying marijuana, and so had to depend on donated samples which, unsurprisingly, tended to be of very low quality. So, they were systematically underestimating the THC content by a huge margin. The law was changed in the 1980’s to allow them to buy pot for testing, and the results instantly fell into line with reality. No big deal, right? Well, it wouldn’t have been if overzealous high school health teachers and guidance councellors hadn’t seized onto the apparent (meaningless) increase in tested THC levels as evidence of “stronger modern pot.” Probably the urge to do so stems from the fact that around this same time, many former flower children were reaching middle age and struggling to figure out how to justify telling their children not to smoke pot. So, the “strong modern pot” legend was born, and endures to this day. Meanwhile, most people in the US are still smoking the same low-grade Mexican ditch-weed that has been around since who-knows-when.

As far as actual overdosing goes, a couple of things are worth mentioning: there is a fundamental limit to how high a blood-THC-level you can attain by smoking, but not by eating. This is why people will report different (stronger) effects when eating marijuana/hash than smoking it. So, if it is possible to overdose, you will almost certainly have to do it by eating the drug, and not smoking. Likewise, even if marijuana is stronger than it used to be, the extra THC probably isn’t ending up in people’s bloodstreams anyway. That said, I’ve never heard any reports of an actual overdose. It is known to give some people, in some situations, panic attacks, which can be very frightening but are not inherently dangerous. People are also known to faint, although it’s unclear if marijuana alone does this, or if it is some combination of that and alcohol and tobacco. The fainting does seem to be physiological, though.

That said, you would expect that, were it possible to OD, we would have heard of someone doing it by now. There are plenty of people that aren’t shy about getting as much THC into their systems as possible, as often as possible, and yet they don’t seem to be overdosing. So… I’d say “myth.” “
